Now read how it all began....

In 1999 I was fed up trying to juggle a highflying career in the City and a toddler, so pregnant with child no.2 - I quit.
Retirement didn’t last long, when my eldest daughter wanted a cooking party for her 5th birthday this was a natural progression for someone who frequently had a kitchen full of children cooking and experimenting with food. In 2001 I created Splat Cooking Parties with a small range of products and a DIY Cooking Kit (as I discovered just before the launch that I was pregnant with child no.3).
Splat grew gradually and when I was on the verge of folding the company Nigella Lawson placed an order with us, loved the products and used them in her book “Feast”. This put the company on the map overnight enabled me do what I am really passionate about – getting children cooking. We now have a large online business, a successful cookery school and a team of 18 party organisers running Splat Cooking Parties across South East England and we’re about to franchise
So What advice does Beverley give to anyone starting out a business?

You have to totally believe in yourself and your product to be successful, the ability to bounce back when things are tough and just keep going, knocking down the walls to get your voice heard or your product publicized is essential. Recognise your strengths and weaknesses and don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, people can always say ‘no’ but if you don’t ask you don’t get.

See why we admire this lady.
